Dál Riata
In the 6th & 7th centuries The Kingdom of Alba, Dál Riata covered the whole of Argyll; Islay, Jura, Mull, Ardnamurchan, Cowal, a north-eastern corner of Ireland and of course Kintyre. The capital of Dál Riata was Dunadd Fort, Kilmichael Glassary, Argyll. The Dál Riata Distillery will grow their own barley at Dunadd for their single malt scotch whisky.
